The First Call List

Alex

Liaison Officer

Rude and irritable, Alex is the local chief financial officer and accountant for the municipality. Alex knows every detail of the emergency management handbook, and expects you to know it, too. If only Alex was the one in charge.

Headshot of Alex

Kelly

Logistics Chief

A nervous ball of stress and anxiety, Kelly works in Human Resources, and doesn't perform well under pressure. It's a good thing Kelly has a good heart.

Headshot of Kelly

Jamie

Operations Chief

Naive and inexperienced, Jamie works in Wastewater and has never worked in emergency management before, but Jamie sure is excited to start training next month! If only someone could train Jamie.

Headshot of Jamie

Hunter

Planning Chief

Aloof and antagonistic, Hunter does not want to be here. In fact, Hunter would rather be literally anywhere other than here, and Hunter will let you know it. If only anyone else would answer their phone.

Headshot of Hunter

Morgan

OC Director

Uptight and impatient, Morgan is more interested in ensuring the Mayor's re-election campaign goes off without a hitch, and if there is anything that can be done to wrap this disaster up Morgan is willing to do it. If only things didn't keep getting worse.

Headshot of Morgan

Hayden Maines

The Playwright

Hayden is a local playwright, performer, and director who has worked with a handful of local theatre companies such as Shoestring Players, Winnipeg Mennonite Theatre, Interesting Theatre, and Dark Horse Theatres.

Mission Statement

(Alex, can you draft some statement for me to put in here? Thanks -Morgan)

Public Service Announcement

From 2019 to March of this year, I worked for the federal government in the Public Health Agency of Canada. During the Coronavirus Pandemic, I sepnt some time as the Logistics Chief in the government's Emergency Operations Centre for Covid response, and during my training for the role, I thought that the environment would work perfectly for a workplace sitcom in the style of The Office, The Thick Of It, or Parks and Recreation. A couple years later this script was born, which I am excited to share with you all at the Fringe. I've done my best to keep the terminology and functions of an actual operations centre as accurate as possible, without requiring the audience be infinitely familiar with the day-to-day operations in an EOC. If you've ever worked a job with an annoying coworker before, you should find something to laugh at here!
